BOX SCORE

Susquehanna's Lindsey Jankiewicz tallied a match-high 18 kills to lead the Crusaders to a 3-0 (25-14, 25-10, 25-18) win over Wilkes University in the Lady Colonels home-opener.

Wilkes (2-3) was unable to generate much offense, hitting .029 for the match, collecting 19 digs on 103 attacks with 16 errors.  Katherine Harrington (LaFayette, N.Y./LaFayette Central) and Marissa Harrison (Shavertown, Pa./Lake-Lehman) led the way with six kills each for the Lady Colonels.

Only five players registered kills for Wilkes, while Kaitlyn McGurk (Swarthmore, Pa./Ridley) led the way defensively with nine digs.

“I think we played well at times.  We played well at the beginning of each game, but we were not able to contain it all the way through,” head coach Alicia Orlowski said.  Defensively, the Crusaders had 61 digs and had seven service aces in the win.  Jess Cicioni just missed a double-double as she had 11 digs and nine kills in the win.

“We really need to improve on our communication and eliminating our errors,” Orlowski said.  “We need to control what we can control and I think we will be alright.”

The Lady Colonels will be back in action next Tuesday when they host Manhattanville in the Freedom Conference opener.
