Wilkes University will face their toughest opponent of the year when No. 3 Delaware Valley visits the Marts Center at 7 p.m. Friday. The Aggies are the highest-ranked opponent the Colonels have faced this season after previously going up against No. 11 Wisconsin-La Crosse.
The Colonels (11-4-1) are coming off a 28-9 win over No. 28 York last Friday, winning all but two-bouts. Wilkes is a perfect 7-0 at home this season and has not given up more than 16 points in the Marts Center.
The Aggies (10-1-1) will be the fifth ranked opponent the Colonels have faced this season. They recently took down Messiah 46-0 for their fifth-straight win. Delaware Valley's lone loss this season came against then No. 2 and now No. 1 Augsburg State, falling 25-17.
“Delaware Valley is a great team with a solid kid at every weight,” head coach
Jon Laudenslager said. “I think our kids are excited about the opportunity to face the #3 team in the country and certainly believe that we can battle with them. I expect us to continue to work hard all seven minutes of every match and see where we are at as we get close to the end of the year. This will be a good test and challenge that will give us a good indicator of our conditioning, mental toughness and passion to win against some of the better kids in the country.”
