Wilkes Men's Wrestling Announces 2026-27 Season Schedule

WILKES-BARRE – The Wilkes University athletic department has announced the 2026-27 season schedule for the men's wrestling team, continuing a series of releases for all of Wilkes' winter athletic programs.

The Colonels get set for a 17-event regular season campaign under the direction of Director of Wrestling Jon Laudenslager '99 in his 24th season. The schedule includes six standalone dual meets, three team dual competitions, and eight individual tournaments. Eight events will be held at the Marts Center and McHale Athletic Center.

The season begins on Sunday, November 1 as the Colonels travel to compete in the Lycoming Tournament. The team's first home contest and first dual comes on Nov. 6, as the navy and gold welcome RIT to the Marts Center at 7:00 p.m. Wilkes doesn't get much rest, as they turn around and head across town to the Ned McGinley Invitational the next day (Nov. 7), hosted by King's College.

Wilkes then welcomes Delaware Valley College for a home dual meet on Nov. 13 at 7:00 p.m., and host the second Wilkes Invitational tournament on Nov. 21 at the McHale Athletic Center. The team then closes the calendar year with a trio of tournaments, beginning with the Blue Jay Classic hosted by Elizabethtown College on December 5 and followed by the Misericordia Tournament on Dec. 13. The year comes to an end at home with the 93rd Annual Wilkes Open, the Rose Bowl of Wrestling, on December 22.

The Colonels open 2027 with a second trip to Lycoming College, competing in the Budd Whitehill Duals on January 8-9. A standalone dual splits two team dual events, as the Colonels head up I-80 to face the University of Scranton on Jan. 15 before hosting the PA/NY Duals on Jan. 16. The event will feature NYU, Hunter College, Merchant Marine, Keystone College, and Elizabethtown alongside the Colonels in a full day of dual action beginning at 11:00 a.m.

The Marts Center hosts more team dual action on Jan. 23 with the John Reese Duals, where the Colonels are slated to face off against Johns Hopkins University, Marymount University and Shenandoah University, starting at 11:00 a.m. Wilkes closes an action-packed month at the Pete Willson Invite hosted by Wheaton College on Jan. 29-30, the third consecutive year that the Colonels will be featured at the event.

February begins with a trio of dual matches, beginning with a dual against King's College on Feb. 5 at the Marts Center. The home slate closes with a dual against Ithaca College on Feb. 12, with both contests set for a 7:00 p.m. start. The Colonels then take a short trip up Route 309 for the final dual of the season against Misericordia University on Feb. 14, starting at 1:00 p.m. The regular season wraps up with the Mideast Futures Tournament on Feb. 21, hosted by Alvernia University.

The postseason begins with the NCAA Region 2 Qualifier on Feb. 26-27 and culminates with the NCAA Championships hosted by UW-La Crosse on March 12-13.

Wilkes will continue to release its 2026-27 winter schedules with women's wrestling on Friday.
