Box Score

The Wilkes University volleyball team hosted Misericordia, and on a night that honored seniors Julie Page (New Milford, Pa./Blue Ridge) and LeeAnn Searfoss (Bethlehem, Pa./Liberty), the Lady Colonels defeated the Cougars in three straight games, 25-14, 25-19 and 27-25.

In the first game Wilkes got out to an early lead and never looked back, as multiple errors by the Cougars allowed the Lady Colonels to roll, 25-14. Wilkes hit .355 in the match, while Misericordia only hit .100. LeeAnn Searfoss (Bethlehem, Pa./Liberty) passed out nine assists while Allison Kelleher (Sayre, Pa./Athens Area) had six digs.

In the second game it was the same story, with the Lady Colonels establishing a strong lead and never allowing Misericordia into the game. The Cougars had a negative hitting percentage in the game, while Wilkes had six different Lady Colonels record a kill. Searfoss had 10 assists in the game.

The third game was more of a challenge for the Lady Colonels, who found themselves down 16-11 midway through the contest, but a 7-0 run on Marissa Harrison (Shavertown/Lake-Lehman)'s serve got Wilkes right back into the game. The teams would fight back and forth until Harrison slammed a kill down the left boundary line to secure the victory and the match.

Nine different Wilkes players recorded kills in the match, led by Marissa Harrison (Shavertown/Lake-Lehman) with nine, while Meghan Williams and Emily DeBuck (Pine Island, NY/Warwick Valley) each had six. LeeAnn Searfoss (Bethlehem, Pa./Liberty) recorded 28 assists in the contest, while fellow senior Julie Page (New Milford, Pa./Blue Ridge) had six kills and 11 digs in her final home match. Kelleher led the Lady Colonels with 15 digs.

Wilkes will now look forward to the Freedom Conference Playoffs.  They play at Eastern on Wednesday, Nov. 4th at 7:00 p.m.
