ST. DAVIDS – The No. 18 Wilkes University women's field hockey team fell to No. 20 Eastern, 3-1, dropping its first game of the season.
Eastern's Brittany Moyer gave the Eagles a 1-0 lead with a goal in the 28th minute, assisted by Yvonne Herbster. The Eagles would add another goal before the break when Herbster scored on a pass from Christin Haas.
In the second half Eastern extended their lead to3-0 on a goal by Elya Troup in the 42nd minute. The Lady Colonels would score in the 68th minute on a goal by
Jenna DiSabatino (Mountaintop, Pa./Crestwood) to make the final score, 3-1.
Eastern fired 15 shots on the day, 13 of which were on goal. Wilkes goalie
Lindsey Davenport (Dallas, Pa./Dallas) record had 10 saves.
Wilkes will look to bounce back Thursday, Oct. 1 when they host Alvernia at Artillery Field. That game will begin at 4:00 p.m.
