CENTER VALLEY – Wilkes University dropped its first Freedom Conference volleyball match of the season, falling to DeSales University 3-0 tonight at Billera Hall.

The Lady Colonels (8-12, 3-1) fell 25-13 and 25-10 to open the match, trying to rally in the third game before falling 25-23.

Marissa Harrison (Shavertown, Lake-Lehman) posted 10 kills on 35 total attacks while Kate McGurk (Swarthmore, Ridley) and Alex Zero (Moscow, North Pocono) had 13 and 10 assists, respectively. Erin Nothstein (Mertztown, Brandywine Heights) anchored the defensive end with 13 digs while McGurk added 12 and Allie Kelleher (Sayre, Athens Area) had 11. McGurk also had two aces.

The Lady Colonels return to the Marts Center on Friday night as they host Cabrini College and Marietta College. Start time for the Cabrini match is set for 5:00 p.m.
