PURCHASE, NY – The Wilkes University field hockey team took just four shots and allowed seven second half goals on Saturday, falling to Freedom Conference foe Manhattanville 8-0.

The Lady Colonels played a solid first half, allowing just one goal by the Valiants which occurred in the first four minutes of play. The rest of the period was a stalemate between the two teams, and Manhattanville held a 1-0 lead at the break.

In the second half it was a completely different story, as the Valiants initiated an offensive surge that lasted the entire period. Manhattanville rattled off 20 shots in the half, while Wilkes only fired two.

Lindsey Davenport (Dallas, Dallas) saved 12 shots in the game, as Wilkes only put two shots on goal.

Wilkes will now travel to Reading, Pa. to take on Alvernia on Thursday, Oct. 14. That game will begin at 7:00 p.m.
