Muhlenberg Match Results
ALLENTOWN – After losing a close match to York, the Wilkes wrestling team tied Delaware Valley and defeated Muhlenberg at the Muhlenberg quad-match on Saturday.
Dustin Stough (Friendsville, MD/Northern Garrett) went 3-0 on the day with one pin.
In the first match Wilkes was pinned against York where they ultimately fell by a final score of 19-18. The Colonels had five winners in the match, as
Mark Uliano (Hazle Township/Hazelton),
Anthony Dattolo (Succasunna, NJ/Roxbury),
Kris Krawchuk (Slatington, PA/Northern Lehigh),
Ben Marich (Kempton, PA/Northwestern Lehigh) and Stough each collected victories. Wilkes entered into their last three bouts with a 18-9 lead, but couldn't pick up a win with its last three wrestlers.
The second match against Delaware Valley literally couldn't have gotten any closer, as a late victory decision by Christopher Smith tied the match at 19 points each. Dattolo, Marich, Stough and Matthew Transue all picked up wins for the Colonels, with Stough pinning his opponent 1:39 into the bout.
The Colonels had no trouble in their next match which was against Muhlenberg. Nine of 10 Colonels that wrestled picked up a win, as the Mules forfeited four bouts, and
Tyler Lauchaire (Stroudsburg, PA/Stroudsburg) pinned his opponent in 5:53.
Myzar Mendoza (Westminster, MD/Winters Mill),
Griffin Panicucci (Wantage, NJ/High Point), Andrew Fisher, Matthew Ellery,
Shane Everett (Saylorsburg, PA/Pleasant Valley), Stough,
Seth Gray (Quakertown, PA/Quakertown), and David Oberrender each grabbed victories in the match as Wilkes won 42-6.
After all was said and done the Colonels moved to 7-3-1 on the season.
The Wilkes Wrestling team will be back in action on Dec. 28 when they host the Wilkes Open. Bouts will start at approximately 9:00 a.m.
