Colonels Notebook
• The Colonels travel to Cedar Falls, IA to compete in the NWCA/Cliff Keen National Duals at the UNI Dome on the campus of the University of Northern Iowa.
• This will be WU's first ever trip to the National Duals.
• WU is coming off of a successful showing at the 78th Wilkes Open, boasting one champion and three other individual place-winners.
•
Myzar Mendoza (Westminster, MD/Winters Mill) took home the title at 125, the first WU individual winner at the Wilkes Open since Mike Schroat (150) in 1989.
• The Colonels remained at No. 19 in the latest NWCA poll (1/3/11); WU has been ranked as high as No. 14 this season after starting out the season 6-2 in dual matches.
•
Anthony Dattolo (Succasunna, NJ/Roxbury) (149) is the only WU National Duals participant ranked, sitting at No. 8 in the NWCA for the third straight poll; He's also ranked No. 8 nationally by
d3wrestle.com.
• WU features a young squad traveling to Cedar Falls, including four freshmen, four sophomores, three juniors and one lone senior.
• Those 12 Colonels hail from four different states, including five from Pennsylvania, four from New Jersey, two from Maryland and one from New York.
