WILKES VOLLEYBALL FALLS TWICE AT MAC CROSSOVER MATCHES

DOYLESTOWN, PA – The Wilkes University volleyball team dropped two matches Saturday afternoon in the Middle Atlantic Conference crossover matches held at Delaware Valley College. The Lady Colonels fell 3-1 against Albright College before dropping a 3-0 decision against Alvernia University in their second match of the day.

Wilkes slips to 1-14 overall on the year following the quad-match.

After winning the first set 26-24, Wilkes fell in three straight sets 20-25, 17-25, and 17-25 against Albright. Casey Bohan (Harding/Wyoming Area) led the way with 11 kills and three blocks. Emily DeBuck (Pine Island, NY/Warwick Valley) followed with six kills and 11 digs. Kate McGurk (Swarthmore/Ridley) led the passing game with 26 assists, while Erin Nothstein (Mertztown/Brandywine Heights) finished with a match-high 30 digs and two service aces.

In their second match of the day, Wilkes fell in straight sets to Alvernia by scores of 16-25, 20-25, and 20-25. Paige Trusty (Durham, CT/Coginchaug) posted a team-high seven kills and nine digs. DeBuck added four kills and nine digs, while McGurk recorded 14 assists. Nothstein contributed 24 digs.

Wilkes will return to Freedom play Tuesday when they host DeSales University at 7:00 p.m. at the Marts Center.
