WILKES FIELD HOCKEY BLANKS DESALES, 1-0
 
EWARDSVILLE – Wilkes' Brittany Beavers (Indian Head, MD/Henry E. Lackey) scored the game-winner 16:11 into the second half  to give Wilkes University a 1-0 shutout victory over visiting conference competitor DeSales University Saturday afternoon from Schmidt Stadium.
 
With the win the Lady Colonels improve to 3-8 on the season and get back to .500 at 2-2 in Freedom play.  The Bulldogs slip to 4-10 on the year and fall to 1-2 in league matches.
 
Beavers found the back of the cage off an asssit from Ashley Ream (Manheim, PA/Manheim Central) to seal the win for Wilkes. Wilkes held a 26-9 shot advantage, while collecting 18 penalty corners to DeSales' 8.
 
Kaitlyn Bevans (Beaver Meadows, PA/Hazleton) led the offensive attack for the Lady Colonels with 11 shots, nine on goal.  Goalie Lindsay Davenport recorded the shutout win in net finishing with four saves on the day.
 
In net for the Bulldogs, Victoria DelToro made 19 stops allowing just the one goal.
 
Wilkes will return to action Wednesday traveling to cross-town rival King's College for a conference match-up scheduled for 7:00 p.m. at the Betzler Athletic Complex.
