WILKES VOLLEYBALL GOES 0-2 ON FIRST DAY OF NEUMANN INVITATIONAL

ASTON, PA – The Wilkes University volleyball team dropped a pair of games on day one of the Neumann University Invitational Saturday afternoon. The Lady Colonels fell 3-0 to Rowan in their first match of the day then dropped a 3-0 decision against the host Neumann in the nightcap.

Wilkes fell in straight sets against Rowan by scores of 25-18, 25-14, and 27-25. Casey Bohan (Harding/Wyoming Area) led the way with nine kills and one service ace. Paige Trusty (Durham, CT/Coginchaug) followed with six kills and seven digs. Erin Nothstein (Mertztown/Brandywine Heights) contributed with a team-high 12 digs, while Kate McGurk (Swarthmore/Ridley) led the passing game with a team-best 23 assists.

IN the game against Neumann, Wilkes fell in straight sets by scores of 25-17, 25-20, and 25-14. Bohan and Trusty combined for 15 kills. Nothstein finished with 15 digs, while McGurk added 16 assists in the match.

Wilkes will conclude play at the Invitational tomorrow with matches against Ursinus College at 10:00 a.m. and Nazareth University at 12:00 p.m.
