Steve Finkernagel WILKES VOLLEYBALL EARNS 3-2 FREEDOM VICTORY AT MANHATTANVILLE 10/18/2011 9:33:00 PM (Box Score) WILKES VOLLEYBALL EARNS 3-2 FREEDOM VICTORY AT MANHATTANVILLE PURCHASE, N.Y. – The Wilkes University volleyball team rallied down two sets to one to post a 3-2 Freedom victory at Manhattanville College Tuesday night. With the win Wilkes moves to 3-21 overall and records their first league win standing 1-5. Manhattanville drops to 12-12 overall and 1-5 in conference matches. The Lady Colonels took set one 25-18, but dropped the next two 23-25 and 14-25 as Manhattanville went up 2-1 after three sets. Wilkes rallied to win the fourth set 25-21 then posted a 15-11 win in the fifth and deciding set to record the conference road win. Paige Trusty (Durham, CT/Coginchaug) led the way with 12 kills and 23 digs. Casey Bohan (Harding/Wyoming Area) also chipped in 12 kills and one solo block. Emily DeBuck (Pine Island, NY/Warwick Valley) enjoyed a solid all-around match with 10 kills and 18 digs. Setter Kate McGurk (Swarthmore/Ridley) finished with 12 kills, 37 assists, and 16 digs for Wilkes. Erin Nothstein (Mertztown/Brandywine Heights) posted a school-record 52 digs in the five-set win breaking her previous mark of 48 set against King's earlier this season. Wilkes will conclude their regular season slate Wednesday when the Lady Colonels host FDU-Florham on senior night at 7:00 p.m. in the Marts Center. Print Friendly Version
