WILKES FIELD HOCKEY FALLS 8-1 AT CROSS-TOWN RIVAL KING’S 10/19/2011 9:20:00 PM (Box Score) WILKES FIELD HOCKEY FALLS 8-1 AT CROSS-TOWN RIVAL KING'S WILKES-BARRE – Jenera Quinones and Calli Berryman scored three goals each to lead host King's College to an 8-1 Freedom win over Wilkes University Wednesday night at the Betzler Athletic Complex. With the loss Wilkes drops to 3-9 overall and 2-3 in league play. King's improves to 10-5 on the year, 3-2 in Freedom games. The Lady Monarchs took an early 3-0 lead thanks to two of Quinones tallies and a Shawna Walp goal. Wilkes answered to cut the deficit to 3-1 when Ashley Ream (Manheim, PA/Manheim Central) notched her third goal of the season off an assist from Lauren Pawling (Columbia, PA/Manheim Central). King's went to the break up 3-1. The Lady Monarchs controlled most of the second half rallying for five unanswered goals as Berryman notched all three of her tallies in the second frame. Wilkes goalie Lindsey Davenport (Dallas, PA/Dallas) finished with nine saves, while Jenna Schall (Easton, PA/Freedom) entered in relief making four stops. King's keeper Megan Withrow recorded one save in the contest. King's held a 28-4 shot advantage while garnering six corners to Wilkes' five attempts. Wilkes returns to Freedom play Saturday with an important Freedom matchup against Manhattanville College at 1:00 p.m. at Schmidt Stadium. Print Friendly Version
