WILKES FIELD HOCKEY CRUISES TO 2-0 SHUTOUT WIN AGAINST DVC

EDWARDSVILLE – Ashley Ream (Manheim, PA/Manheim Central) scored early in the first half, and Kaitlyn Bevans (Beaver Meadows, PA/Hazleton) added the insurance marker late in the second frame to lead Wilkes University to a 2-0 shutout win over visiting Delaware Valley College Friday night in Freedom field hockey action from Schmidt Stadium.

With the win Wilkes improves to 2-7 overall and 1-2 in league play. DVC falls to 2-8 overall and 0-2 in conference matches.

Ream scored just 3:27 into the contest to put Wilkes up1-0 early. The teams battled the final 31 minutes of the first frame scoreless. Wilkes played most of the half in their offensive end controlling possession throughout.

After several quality scoring opportunities throughout the second half, Bevans found the back of the cage off an assist from Kerryn Redcay (Reading, PA/Wilson) at the 67:16 mark to seal the conference victory for the Lady Colonels.

Wilkes held a 22-1 shot advantage while garnering 14 penalty corners to DVC's three attempts.

Goalie Lindsey Davenport (Dallas, PA/Dallas) had a quiet night in net to record the win. Aggies keeper Hollis Hancock finished with 14 saves.

Wilkes will return to action Sunday when the Lady Colonels travel to William Patterson University for a non-conference tilt scheduled for 1:00 p.m.
