Steve Finkernagel WILKES VOLLEYBALL EARNS A SPLIT AT HOME TRI-MATCH WITH SCRANTON/HILBERT 10/8/2011 10:28:00 PM WILKES VOLLEYBALL EARNS A SPLIT AT HOME TRI-MATCH WITH SCRANTON/HILBERT WILKES-BARRE – The Wilkes University volleyball team earned a split against the University of Scranton and Hilbert College Saturday afternoon in a tri-match at the Marts Center. Wilkes fell 3-0 against Scranton before posting a 3-0 victory over Hilbert in their second match of the day. The Lady Colonels improve to 2-16 overall following the days matches. Scranton posted the straight set win by scores of 25-20, 25-15, and 25-17. Paige Trusty (Durham, CT/Coginchaug) led the way with five kills and seven digs. Emily DeBuck (Pine Island, NY/Warwick Valley) followed with two kills and six digs. Erin Nothstein (Mertztown/Brandywine Heights) contributed 12 digs, while Kate McGurk (Swarthmore/Ridley) led the passing game with seven assists. Wilkes posted the three set win over Hilbert by scores of 25-19, 25-21, and 25-12. Trusty finished with a team-high seven kills and seven digs. Casey Bohan (Harding/Wyoming Area) followed with six kills and four block assists. Nothstein added a match-high 27 digs, while McGurk posted 18 assists. Wilkes will return to Freedom play Wednesday with a road matchup at Delaware Valley College at 7:00 p.m. in Doylestown, Pa. Print Friendly Version
