Steve Finkernagel NO. 11 WILKES WRESTLING EARNS SPLIT AT HOME QUAD MATCH 12/10/2011 5:17:00 PM (Full Results) NO. 11 WILKES WRESTLING EARNS SPLIT AT HOME QUAD MATCH WILKES-BARRE – The No. 11 Wilkes University wrestling team posted a 26-15 win over Delaware Valley before falling to No. 22 York College 22-13 at a quad match held in the Marts Center Saturday afternoon. Wilkes moves to 5-3 overall following the quad match. Muhlenberg College was the other participant, but the Mules brought just one wrestler to the event so no team scores would be recorded for their matches. Delaware Valley took an early 9-0 lead following a pin at 125 and decision at 133. Senior #10 Ryan Wilson (Manasquan, NJ/Wall Township) put Wilkes on the board with a 4-0 decision over Sam Pietrantuono at 141. At 149, senior #4 Anthony Dattolo (Succasunna, NJ/Roxbury) recorded a pin in 2:39 over Rich Tieto to tie the match at 9-9. Nathan White (Ellicott City, MD/River Hill) (165) and Dustin Stough (Friendsville, MD/Northern Garrett) (174) would give the Colonels a 17-12 lead with back-to-back major decision wins. White took his match 13-1 over Alec Horan while Stough posted an 11-1 win over Connor Gabriel. Seth Gray (Quakertown, PA/Quakertown) added a 6-5 decision victory over Kyle Tufts at 184 and David Oberrender (197) ended any hopes of a DVC comeback when he pinned Joseph Richard in 6:42 to put the Colonels out in front 26-12 with one match remaining. In the loss against No. 22 York, #10 Myzar Mendoza (Westminster, MD/Winters Mill) (133) scored a pin over Chuck Glatz in 2:40 to put the Colonels up 6-3 after two bouts. Dattolo earned his second win of the afternoon with a 8-3 decision over Chris Gugliotti to keep Wilkes in front 9-7 after four bouts. After York took a 10-9 lead following the 157-pound bout, White recorded his second major decision win of the day with an 8-0 victory over Trent Bond to give the Colonels a 11-9 lead with four bouts left. From there, York took four straight decision to at 174, 184, 197, and 285 to post the Metropolitan conference win.
