WILKES CAGERS SET FOR INAUGURAL CROSS COUNTY CHALLENGE AT MARYWOOD 12/30/2011 9:15:00 AM (Complete Game Notes) WILKES MEN'S CAGERS SET FOR INAUGURAL CROSS COUNTY CHALLENGE AT MARYWOOD SCRANTON, PA – Local college basketball fans will have another reason to celebrate during the holiday season when the first Cross County Challenge is hosted by Marywood University on January 2 and 3. The event will feature Luzerne County schools Wilkes University and King's College facing off against Lackawanna County rivals University of Scranton and host Marywood. On Monday, Wilkes will start things off when the Colonels play Scranton at 6:00 p.m. before Marywood hosts King's in the nightcap at 8:00 p.m. On Tuesday, the Colonels square off against Marywood at 6:00 p.m. while King's faces Scranton at 8:00 p.m. Tickets can be purchased at the door the day of the game. Ticket prices are $5 for adults and $2 for senior citizens, children under the age of 10 and students from King's, Scranton and Wilkes with a valid college ID. Tuesday night's games will be televised live locally on Comcast channel 11 (Scranton area), Service Electric channel 4 (Wilkes-Barre area), Direct TV HD or DishNetwork channel 53 or over the air on channel 53.1. The broadcast will also be simulcast live on MyFoxNEPA.com. The site of the event will rotate each year according to county. Next year either Wilkes or King's will host the event, followed by Scranton in 2014. The event will also mark the first time Wilkes and King's will face former Middle Atlantic Conference member Scranton on the court.
