HILTON HEAD ISLAND, SC – The Lady Colonels took a 9-0 win and the Colonels won 5-4 as Wilkes University's women's and men's tennis teams earned two victories over Trine University on Wednesday afternoon at Hilton Head Island.

On the women's side, Wilkes easily cruised past the Thunder as Ally Kristofco (Hollidaysburg, PA/Bishop Guilfoyle) took a 6-1, 6-4 win at No. 1 singles and teamed with Victoria Bybel (Lancaster/Lancaster Mennonite) at No. 1 doubles for an 8-5 victory.

Also getting singles wins for the Lady Colonels were Rebekah Shanaman (Richland, PA/ELCO), Alexis Donner (Belmar, NJ/Wall), Amanda Holyk (Scranton, PA/Scranton Prep), Anna Mitchell (Montclair, NJ/Montclair) and Amanda Rossi (Fogelsville, PA/Parkland).

For the men, a 7-6 (7-4), 6-4 win from Brandon Helfrich (Bloomsburg, PA/Central Columbia) in the contest's final match broke a 4-4 tie and gave the Colonels the win. The deciding win came after Trine took wins at No. 4 and No. 5 singles, rallying from two down for the tie.

Wes McCollum (Harrisburg/Central Dauphin) and Clarke Freeman (York, PA/Central York) each got singles wins while also teaming up at No. 1 doubles for an 8-3 victory.

Both teams finish up their trip to South Carolina on Friday as the men square off against Regis University in the morning and Shepherd University in the afternoon while the women will play Shepherd in their final match of spring break.
