Wilkes Men's Tennis Downs Marywood 5-2
SCRANTON, PA – Visiting Wilkes University men's tennis posted a 5-2 victory in its first road dual match of the fall at Marywood University on Saturday afternoon.
Wilkes even its overall dual match record at 1-1 following the victory.
In doubles play, Wilkes claimed the team point with wins at No. 1 and No. 2 pairs. The duos of
Otarhe Okoh (Shakopee, MN/Shakopee) and
Xavier Bleiler (Mountain Top, PA/MMI Prep) (No. 1) and
Landon Gleichauf (Naples, NY/Naples) and
Cole Riley (Louisville, KY/Saint Xavier) (No. 2) were the winners for the Colonels.
In singles action, Okoh took his No. 2 match 6-2, 6-1 before Bleiler won 6-1, 6-0 at No. 3. Gleichauf was a 6-4, 6-0 winner at No. 4 while
Thomas Farnsworth (Granby, CT/Granby Memorial) was the final Wilkes singles winner taking his No. 5 match 6-4, 6-2.
Wilkes is back in action tomorrow (Sunday) when the squad competes in the Dutchman Invitational hosted by Lebanon Valley College inside at the Hershey Racquet Club starting at 11:00 a.m.
