Wilkes Falls to Misericordia in Freedman Opener straight sets, 3-0
WILKES-BARRE -- Miscericordia University defeated Wilkes University in tonight's contest in straight sets, (25-21, 25-20, and 25-17.) The Lady Colonels drop to 1-5 overall and 0-1 in conference play. The Cougars improve to 3-1 on the year and 1-0 in the conference matches.
Wilkes was led by Kate McGurk (Swarthmore/Ridley) with 23 assists, 11 digs, three kills, and one block. Paige Trusty (Durham, CT/Coginchaug) acquired 12 kills and 11 digs in the match. The libero for the team, Erin Nothstein (Mertztown/Brandywine Heights) had a total of 19 digs.
For the Cougars, Cailin McCullion, had 14 kills with 36 total attacks and eight digs. Klleyn Swanson, the libero, led the team with 14 digs. Kristin Hoffman led the passing game with 32 assists.
The Lady Colonels take to the road Saturday as they travel to Clarks Summit, Pa. to play Lycoming College at 10:00 am and Baptist Bible College at 2:00 pm.
