WILKES VOLLEYBALL FALLS 3-0 AGAINST EASTERN IN FREEDOM MATCH
WILKES-BARRE – Eastern University defeated Wilkes University in straight sets (25-13, 25-8, and 25-3) in Freedom Conference action this Tuesday night.
The Lady Colonels slip to 1-7 overall and 0-2 in conference play. The Eagles progress to 11-1 on the season and 2-0 in conference matches.
Wilkes was led by sophomore, Erin Nothstein (Mertztown/Brandywine Heights) with 14 digs and one kill. Casey Bohan (Harding/Wyoming Area) achieved two kills and three digs. Paige Trusty (Durham, CT/Coginchaug) had five kills and eight digs. Kate McGurk (Swarthmore/Ridley) led the passing game with 11 assists. Captain, Emily DeBuck (Pine Island, NY/Warwick Valley), had 10 digs and two kills.
The Eagles were led by senior, Courtney Reinhold with 16 kills, three serving aces, two digs, and one block. Senior, Maria Horning led the team in the passing route with 32 assists and four kills. The libero, Kelly Groff, had a total of eight digs in the match.
The Lady Colonels go back on the road this Thursday as they travel to Scranton, Pa. to play Marywood University at 7:00 p.m.
