NO. 14 WILKES WRESTLING FINISHES 4-0 AT NORTH/SOUTH DUALS AS DATTOLO COLLECTS 100TH WIN
 
COLLEGEVILLE, PA – The No. 14 Wilkes University wrestling team finished a perfect 4-0 at the North/South Duals held at Ursinus College Saturday afternoon. Senior 149-pounder Anthony Dattolo (Succasunna, NJ/Roxbury) led the way with a 3-0 mark collecting his 100th career win in his final match of the afternoon.
 
The Colonels began the day with a 24-13 win over the Merchant Marine Academy, then followed with a 32-6 drubbing of No. 20 Stevens Institute of Technology. Wilkes finished the day by claiming a 19-18 decision over No. 19 Messiah College and a 36-12 victory over West Chester University. Following the days matches, Wilkes moves to 9-3 overall.
 
In the win against the Merchant Marine Academy, Michael Fleck (Easton, PA/Wilson Area), Myzar Mendoza (Westminster, MD/Winters Mill), Ryan Wilson (Manasquan, NJ/Wall Township), Dattolo, Matthew Ellery, and Michael Shannon all claimed wins for the Colonels. Mendoza pinned Tom Healy in 2:12 as Wilkes took an early 12-0 lead after two bouts. Wilson grabbed a 15-9 decision at 141-pounds, and Dattolo notched his 98th victory with a 9-4 win over Martin Bell.
 
The Colonels continued their momentum in the match against Stevens jumping out to a 20-0 lead with wins in the first five matches. Fleck took a technical fall against Anthony Geirger (16-1) in 2:56. After Mendoza posted an 8-1 decision at 133-pounds, Dattolo continued his unbeaten mark with a 4-3 decision win over CJ Caserta. At 157-ponds, Shane Everett (Saylorsburg, PA/Pleasant Valley) took a 3-2 decision over Jake Odell, while David Oberrender (197) and William Fletcher (Ottsville, PA/Palisades) (285) rounded out victories for Wilkes.
 
Dattolo entered the match against Messiah needing one more win for 100 on his brilliant career as a Colonel. The feat came on a 5-1 decision over Ty Kanouff as he became the fifth Wilkes wrestler to reach the 100-win plateau. Fleck recorded a pin at :37 and Wilson (141), Nathan White (Ellicott City, MD/River Hill) (165), and Matthew Transue (285) also posted decision wins to seal the victory.
 
In the final match of the day against West Chester, Wilkes cruised taking seven of the 10 bouts including two falls. John Lynch (Hellertown, PA/Saucon Valley) (149) filled in for Dattolo pinning Joe Ciccone in 4:07. Jon Slack (Washington, NJ/Warren Hills) pinned Thomas Dwyer in 2:52 for the Colonels other fall. Chase Martino (Hixson, TN/The McCallie School) (174) and Marlon Duque (Boonton, NJ/Boonton) (184) each posted decision wins at 8-3 and 3-2 respectively.
 
Wilkes will return to the mat Wednesday when the Colonels travel to New York, N.Y. for a tri-match against the University of Scranton and host Hunter College. The Colonels face Scranton at 3:00 p.m. before a match with Hunter at 4:30 p.m.
