WILKES VOLLEYBALL BREEZES PAST MANHATTANVILLE 3-0 TO KEEP PLAYOFF HOPES ALIVE
 
WILKES-BARRE – Casey Bohan (Harding/Wyoming Area) posted a match-high 16 kills and Paige Trusty (Durham, CT/Coginchaug) added nine kills and one solo block to lead Wilkes University to a 3-0 win over visiting Manhattanville College Tuesday night in the Marts Center.
 
Wilkes improves to 8-14 overall and evens its Freedom mark at 3-3. The Lady Colonels currently sit in a tie with Misericordia (3-3) for fourth place but have the tiebreaker over the Cougars with a win in Dallas, Pa. earlier this season. The top four seeds advance to the Freedom Conference Tournament.
 
Wilkes tooks the match in straight sets by scores of 25-11, 25-18, and 25-10.
 
Bohan was dominate at the net all three sets adding two solo blocks. Alisha Rupp (Shamokin, PA/Shamokin) (four kills), Megan Powers (Pottsville, PA/Pottsville) (six kills), and Courtney Kania (Mountain Top, PA/Crestwood) (seven kills) all provided fire power in the Wilkes offensive attack. Powers was smooth in the passing game finishing with a match-high 31 assists. Kania posted 15 digs, while Erin Nothstein (Mertztown/Brandywine Heights) contributed 14 digs on the night.
 
Susy Camaj led Manhattanville with 11 kills and 11 digs.
 
Wilkes travels to Hilbert College Saturday for a non-conference match scheduled for 1:00 p.m. then travels to FDU-Florham Wednesday, October 24 for its final Freedom Conference contest of the season.
