With the loss, the Lady Colonels fall to 6-8 overall and 1-4 in Freedom play while King's improves to 10-6 overall and 4-1 in league play. In the first half, a King's penalty stroke by Stephanie Wingerter found the net at the 9:42 mark. King's extended its lead at the 12:54 mark when Calli Berryman found the net on a dish from Kim Howanitz. The second half saw a completely different Lady Colonel squad that dominated much of the second period. Wilkes got on the board when Ashley Ream (Manheim, PA/Manheim Central) slapped a deflected Lauren Pawling (Columbia, PA/Manheim Central) shot in the right side of the net. The remainder of the game was scoreless but without excitement. The Colonels outshot the Monarchs 17 to 10. Alexis Reed (Greenport, NY/Greenport) had four stops in net while Megan Withrow had 11 stops for King's. Prior to tonight's matchup, Pawling and Kaitlyn Bevans (Beaver Meadows, PA/Hazleton) were honored for their contributions to the Lady Colonel program. Also, Wilkes held its third annual guest coach night where members of the faculty and staff at Wilkes are invited down to the bench for the game. Wilkes travels to Center Valley, Pa. for a Freedom matchup at 1:00 p.m. against DeSales University. Print Friendly Version
