In the opening period, the Tigers held a 2-1 scoring advantage by taking eight shots with six on goal. Wilkes took nine shots with seven on goal. With the Colonels down 2-0, sophomore Alisha Bowers (Slatington, PA/Northern Lehigh) drove toward the net, taking a shot, snagging her own rebound, and putting the ball in goal with three seconds left to play in the first period. In the second half, the Lady Colonels chose a different fate. With 37:35 left in the second period, Aliya Frankel (Ventnor, NJ/Holy Spirit) took a shot off a rebound that found the net to even the score at two apiece. Wittenberg's Casey Fry then found the net to put the Tigers up 3-2 with just over 22 minutes to play. After numerous plays that started from corners, Wilkes was not able to break the Tiger's defensive barrier. Then, with 18 seconds of play left in the game, Lauren Pawling (Columbia, PA/Manheim Central) found the net on an assist from Olivia Dworak (Dupont, PA/Wyoming Seminary). But, the drama was still not over. Just two minutes and twelve seconds into overtime, Thompson laced the ball in the net on a dish from Pawling. Alexis Reed (Greenport, NY/Greenport) had seven saves in net for Wilkes. For Wittenberg, Jessica Jenson had 14 stops.
