WILKES VOLLEYBALL COLLECTS SECOND FREEDOM WIN WITH 3-1 DECISION OVER KING'S
 
WILKES-BARRE – Juniors Casey Bohan (Harding/Wyoming Area) and Paige Trusty (Durham, CT/Coginchaug) led a balanced Wilkes attack combining for 39 kills and three solo blocks to lead host Wilkes University to a 3-1 win over cross-town rival King's College Wednesday night in the Marts Center.
 
Wilkes improves to 6-10 overall and 2-1 in Freedom play following the win. King's drops to 3-11 overall and 0-3 in league matches.
 
After falling 25-20 in the first set, Wilkes rallied to take the next three to seal the conference win. The Lady Colonels took sets two and three 25-10 and 25-15 respectively before holding off a furious King's rally in the fourth collecting a 26-24 win on way to the league victory.
 
Bohan was brilliant on the front line for Wilkes finishing with a match-high 22 kills and one solo block. Trusty was equally effective posting 17 kills and four total blocks. Setter Megan Powers (Pottsville, PA/Pottsville) led the passing game with 39 assists while libero Erin Nothstein (Mertztown/Brandywine Heights) anchored the backline totaling a team-best 22 digs.
 
Elen O'Donnell led King's with seven kills and five digs. Alexa Nelson followed with six kills and two solo blocks while libero Jillian Foster totaled a team-high 17 digs on the Lady Monarch backline.
 
Wilkes returns to Freedom play Tuesday traveling to Center Valley, Pa. to face DeSales University at 7:00 p.m.
