WILKES VOLLEYBALL SUFFERS 3-1 LOSS IN HOME DEBUT

WILKES-BARRE – Visiting Marywood University broke open a 1-1 game taking the final two sets on way to a 3-1 victory spoiling Wilkes University's home debut Wednesday night at the Marts Center.

The Pacers took the match by scores of 25-23, 10-25, 25-21, and 25-16. With the defeat Wilkes slips to 2-3 on the year while Marywood improves to 3-0.

Casey Bohan (Harding/Wyoming Area) led the attack with a season-high 18 kills while Paige Trusty (Durham, CT/Coginchaug) and Alisha Rupp (Shamokin, PA/Shamokin) added 12 and 11 kills respectively. Setter Megan Powers (Pottsville, PA/Pottsville) posted a team-high 39 assists, while Erin Nothstein (Mertztown/Brandywine Heights) contributed 34 digs on the Wilkes backline.

Ashley Zalewski led Marywood with 12 kills while Amy Kester followed with six kills and 12 digs.

Wilkes takes to the road Friday and Saturday competing at the University of Scranton Invitational. On Friday the Lady Colonels face Pitt-Bradford at 6:00 p.m. before a matchup with the host Scranton at 8:00 p.m. Wilkes then closes with Keystone College at 1:00 p.m. and Marywood at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday.
