Megan Powers broke the school record for assists in a single match with 48 against Marywood WILKES VOLLEYBALL SPLITS PAIR OF MATCHES AT SCRANTON INVITATIONAL 9/8/2012 8:19:00 PM WILKES VOLLEYBALL SPLITS PAIR OF MATCHES AT SCRANTON INVITATIONAL SCRANTON, PA – The Wilkes volleyball team split a pair of matches on day two of the Scranton Invitational Saturday afternoon. The Lady Colonels grabbed a 3-1 win over Keystone in their first match of the day, then fell 3-2 against Marywood. Wilkes moves to 3-6 overall on the year following the two-day event. Wilkes posted the win over Keystone in four sets by scores of 25-15, 25-17, 17-25, and 25-14. Casey Bohan (Harding/Wyoming Area) led the Wilkes attack finishing with 15 kills and three total blocks. Paige Trusty (Durham, CT/Coginchaug) added 13 kills and two solo blocks, while Alisha Rupp (Shamokin, PA/Shamokin) contributed eight kills. Erin Nothstein (Mertztown/Brandywine Heights) posted a team-best 10 digs, while setter Megan Powers (Pottsville, PA/Pottsville) led the passing game with 39 assists. In its second match in just three days, Marywood outlasted Wilkes 3-2 by scores of 20-25, 25-16, 26-24, 25-23, before taking the fifth and deciding set 15-4. Bohan led the offensive attack with a career-high 25 kills and three blocks. Trusty and Rupp combined for 20 kills while Nothstein chipped in with 30 digs defensively. Powers was strong in the passing game finishing with a school-record 48 assists. The 48 assists breaks the previous mark of 47 set by Tammy Swartwood in 1993 against Delaware Valley. Bohan was named to the All-Tournament Team for the second consecutive week as the junior earned All-Tournament status at the Moravian Greyhound Invitational last weekend.
