WILKES FIELD HOCKEY FALLS 2-1 AT SUSQUEHANNA

SELINSGROVE, PA – The Lady Colonels gave up two first half goals within a five minute span en route to a 2-1 defeat at Susquehanna University. Wilkes falls to 3-10 on the season while Susquehanna improves to 7-8.

Brodie Ercole scored for the Crusaders 11:21 into the game and Emily Novakovich followed suit at the 16:22 minute mark to provide the Crusaders with all the offense they would need for the game.

Wilkes made it 2-1 at the 62:26 minute mark when Ashley Ream (Manheim, PA/Manheim Central) scored unassisted. With the lead down to one the Lady Colonels fought hard until the last few seconds of the game. Ashley Hahn (Bangor, PA/Bangor) shot at an open cage in the waning moments but her shot sailed just wide left of the cage.

Wilkes managed 14 shots five of which were on goal, and they out cornered Susquehanna 11-6. Alexis Reed (Greenport, NY/Greenport) made six saves in the cage for the Lady Colonels.

The Lady Colonels return to Freedom Conference play on Saturday when they host Delaware Valley College at Schmidt Stadium. Game is scheduled to start at 1:00 p.m.
