#15 EASTERN POSTS 3-0 WIN OVER WILKES VOLLEYBALL; LADY COLONELS SUFFER FIRST FREEDOM DEFEAT

WILKES-BARRE – No. 15 Eastern University rolled to a 3-0 Freedom victory over Wilkes University Wednesday night in women's volleyball action from the Marts Center.

Wilkes suffers its first Freedom defeat of the season standing 8-8 overall and 2-1 in conference matches. Eastern improves to 17-3 overall and a perfect 3-0 in league play.

Eastern took the match by scores of 25-13, 25-8 and 25-23. Wilkes held a slim one point advantage in the third set, 22-21, but could not hold on to force a fourth set.

Casey Bohan (Harding/Wyoming Area) led the Lady Colonels attack with nine kills and one solo block. Kelsey Yacko (Shamokin, PA/Shamokin) followed with three kills and one block assist. Ally Paskas (Rutherford, NJ/Rutherford) led the backline for Wilkes with 11 total digs, while setter Meghan Powers finished with 15 assists on the night.

Wilkes hosts the Middle Atlantic Conference (MAC) crossover quad match Saturday starting at 10:00 a.m. at the Marts Center. Elizabethtown, Widener and Misericordia are all participating schools in the event. Wilkes plays Elizabethtown at 10:00 a.m. then hosts Widener at 4:00 p.m. to conclude the quad match.
