WILKES VOLLEYBALL SPLITS AT MAC CROSSOVER QUAD

WILKES-BARRE – The Wilkes University volleyball team split a pair of matches at the Middle Atlantic Conference crossover matches held at the Marts center Saturday afternoon. Wilkes posted a 3-2 win over Elizabethtown in its first match of the day before falling 3-0 to Widener in the nightcap.

Wilkes moves to 9-9 overall following the split.

In the five-setter against Elizabethtown, Wilkes took the match by scores of 10-25, 25-21, 18-25, 25-21, and 15-12 in the deciding fifth set. Casey Bohan (Harding/Wyoming Area) led the offense with 17 kills and four total blocks (two solo), while Ally Paskas (Rutherford, NJ/Rutherford) followed with a season-high 13 kills and 10 digs for her first collegiate double-double. Megan Powers (Pottsville, PA/Pottsville) led the passing game with a match-high 44 assists, while Abigail Sanders (Allentown, PA/Northwestern Lehigh) finished with 18 digs defensively.

Widener claimed the final match of the four-match event over Wilkes by scores of 26-24, 25-20, and 25-18. Kelsey Yacko (Shamokin, PA/Shamokin) contributed a team-high 11 kills and one solo block, and Paige Trusty (Durham, CT/Coginchaug) added six kills and three digs. Powers finished with 28 assists, while Marissa Mallory (Pine Bush, NY/Pine Bush) added 20 digs in the libero position for Wilkes.

Wilkes returns to Freedom Conference play Tuesday when the Lady Colonels travel to Doylestown, Pa. to face Delaware Valley College at 7:00 p.m.
