WILKES FIELD HOCKEY DROPS 2-0 DECISION AGAINST LYNCHBURG SUNDAY

SHIPPENSBURG, PA – The Wilkes University field hockey team had little time to recover after a tough 3-2 overtime loss to FDU-Florham Friday night as the Lady Colonels dropped a 2-0 decision to national power Lynchburg College Sunday afternoon in a neutral site matchup at Shippensburg University.

Wilkes slips to 2-9 overall following the defeat while Lynchburg snaps a two-game losing skid improving to 7-4 on the year.

Kelli Williams started the scoring for the Hornets with 1:08 remaining in the first half when Megan Tillou found her off a penalty corner.

The game remained 1-0 until late in the second half when LC added an insurance tally. Catherine Rogerson sent the ball over to Taylor Quillen who finished it off for the 2-0 lead.

Alexis Reed (Greenport, NY/Greenport) had 12 saves for Wilkes. Jordan Seeley made six saves for LC while Hannah Myers came in for one of her own.

Wilkes held a 16-11 advantage in penalty corners although the Hornets outshot the Lady Colonels 29-18.

Wilkes returns to Freedom Conference action Saturday when the Lady Colonels travel to St. Davids, Pa. for an 11:00 a.m. matchup with Eastern University.
