WILKES VOLLEYBALL CLOSES OUT SEASON FINISHING FOURTH AT ECAC TOURNAMENT
 
ASTON, PA – The Wilkes University volleyball team finished in fourth place at the ECAC Southeast Tournament Saturday afternoon held at the campus of Neumann University. The Lady Colonels fell 3-0 to the host Neumann before dropping a 3-1 decision to Swarthmore in the third place game.
 
Wilkes sees its 2013 season conclude at 18-15 overall, nine wins improved from a season ago.
 
Wilkes fell in straight sets to Neumann by scores of 25-20, 25-20 and 25-16. Casey Bohan (Harding/Wyoming Area) led the way for Wilkes with 12 kills and five digs. Elizabeth Lisiecki (Moscow, PA/North Pocono) followed with seven kills and eight digs. Megan Powers (Pottsville, PA/Pottsville) led the passing game with 24 assists, while libero Marissa Mallory (Pine Bush, NY/Pine Bush) finished with a team-high 20 digs on the Lady Colonels backline.
 
Wilkes took the first set against Swarthmore 29-27 to take a 1-0 lead. Swarthmore answered in the second set posting a 25-21 win to tie the match at 1-1. Swarthmore then took set three 25-17 before clinching the match in the fourth set with a 25-13 win.
 
Bohan finished with 14 kills and two solo blocks to lead the way for Wilkes in its second match of the day.
 
Wilkes looks to make it three straight seasons earning a Freedom Conference postseason berth in 2014 with a nucleus of players returning next season.
