Wilkes will conclude their season at 11-13 overall and 4-10 in Freedom play while King's finishes at 10-15 overall and 5-8 in Freedom action. Wilkes got hot early and held an 11-to-1 advantage in the opening minutes. Tyler Breznitsky (Freeland, PA/MMI Prep) and Steve Stravinski (Pittston, PA/Pittston) laced back-to-back three pointers to set the stage for a Nic Wilkins (Dushore, PA/Sullivan County) layup. After a Monarch free throw, Wilkins sent home another trey to make it 11-1 with 16:36 to play in the first half. However, King's fought their way back into the game behind the scoring of Tom Heston and Mike Foster. Tyler Breznitsky (Freeland, PA/MMI Prep) scored 11 of his 13 points in the first period and left the game entirely after hitting a jumper in the second. Wilkes proved their resilience by fighting from 12 points down to get back to within four with 5:12 to play. A Pat Furst (Jamison, PA/Central Bucks West) layup and a pair of free throws from Alec Wizar (Lebanon, PA/Annville Cleona) got the Colonels back to within eight. Stravinski and Chris Shovlin (Kingston, PA/G.A.R.) made consecutive layups before Brendan Sheldon (Milford, PA/Delaware Valley)'s bucket made it a four point game. Minutes later, Stravinski banged another trey to force a King's timeout and make it a 64-62 King's advantage. Wilkes was forced to foul and King's hit their free throws down the stretch to seal a 71-62 win. King's was led by Kyle Hammond's 14 points on 7-of 16 from the field. Wilkes was led offensively by Wizar's 14 and Breznitsky and Wilkins' 13 point efforts. Wilkes will graduate both seniors, Cliff Richardson (Bernville, PA/Tulpehocken) and Breznitsky.
