The Lady Colonels stand at 11-11 overall and 2-9 in the Freedom while FDU-Florham improves to 20-2 and 10-1 in Freedom play. Wilkes snagged a lead off the opening tip when Ellen Rich (Hamden, CT/Hamden Hall) found Megan Kazmerski (Kingston, PA/Holy Redeemer) for the dish to Elena Stambone (Jessup, PA/Valley View) for the opening layup. The Devils countered with a scoring run of their own and Wilkes found themselves down by 20 with 7:11 to play, at 32-12. Ginny Edwards (Warrington, PA/Central Bucks South) and Lindsey Chester (Alexandria, VA/Hayfield Secondary) hit back-to-back jumpers before Edwards connected on another bucket to get Wilkes back to within 14. Edwards finished off the Wilkes run with another layup to get back to within 11, but the Devils used hot shooting (15-of-34) to pull away. FDU-Florham was led by Kyra Dayon and Rachel Groom with 22 and 13 points. The Lady Colonels were led by Stambone and Edwards with 13 and 11 points respectively. Edwards complimented her 11 points with 10 rebounds while Rich and Chester added six boards apiece. Wilkes returns to action Saturday at 1:00 p.m. when they host Eastern. It will also be pink day at the Marts Center for cancer awareness. Prior to the game, Wilkes will honor seniors; Amanda Pawlowski (Nanticoke, PA/Holy Redeemer), Angela Palmerio (Telford, PA/Lansdale Catholic), Jana Martin (Lititz, PA/Manheim Central), and Kazmerski.
