 WILKES HOOPS TEAMS TO HOST EASTERN SATURDAY
 
WILKES-BARRE – The Wilkes University men and women's basketball teams will host Eastern Saturday evening in a Freedom Conference doubleheader at the Marts Center. Due to predicted inclement weather, the women play at 3:00 p.m. while the men follow at 5:00 p.m.

The Lady Colonels come into the contest at 11-11 overall and 2-9 in Freedom play, recently falling to FDU-Florham 73-36.
 
They are led offensively by Elena Stambone (Jessup, PA/Valley View)'s 18.5 points per-game and team-best 43 made three-pointers. Megan Kazmerski (Kingston, PA/Holy Redeemer) follows with 10.4 points while Chelsea Brown (Garnet Valley, PA/Garnet Valley) adds 8.1 points per-game respectively.
 
Ellen Rich (Hamden, CT/Hamden Hall) leads the front court with 7.5 rebounds per-game while Ginny and Brown haul in 6.5 and 6.4 boards per-contest. Amanda Pawlowski (Nanticoke, PA/Holy Redeemer) is five assists shy of breaking the all-time record of 282 career assists.
 
The Eastern women's basketball team comes into the game at 9-13 overall standing 5-6 in Freedom play, recently beating Misericordia 73-61.
 
The Eagles are led by Meghan Nowak and Kaitlyn Dougherty averaging 17.1 and 11.5 points per-game. Nowak brings down a team-best 10.4 rebounds per-contest.
 
On the men's side, the Colonels stand at 10-11 overall going 3-8 in Freedom play, picking up their third Freedom win of the season in a 60-42 decision over FDU-Florham.
 
Chris Shovlin (Kingston, PA/G.A.R.) leads the Colonels offense with 22.1 points and 6.3 assists per-game. Tyler Breznitsky (Freeland, PA/MMI Prep) follows with 12.3 points while Pat Furst (Jamison, PA/Central Bucks West) adds 7.5 points per-game.
 
The Eagles stand at 6-16 overall and 4-7 in Freedom play, recently beating Misericordia 66-59.
 
Eastern is led by Anthony Parenti and Malcolm Garrison averaging 11 and 9.1 points per-game.
 
Both Wilkes hoops teams will honor their seniors on “Pink Day” prior to their contests. After Saturday's games, the Wilkes basketball teams will travel to DeSales University Tuesday night. The women will play at 6:00 p.m. with the men to follow at 8:00 p.m.
