Wilkes falls to 4-8 overall and 1-2 in league games following the loss. DeSales improves to 9-4 overall and 3-0 in conference games after the victory. Marissa Surdy (Mountaintop, PA/Crestwood) notched her team-best tenth goal at the 9:29 mark putting Wilkes up early. Maura Anistranski (Forty Fort, PA/Wyoming Valley West) fed Surdy for the goal off a corner attempt. From there DeSales scored four unanswered goals as Alexa Beaumont and Meryah Harding netted two each for the Bulldogs over the stretch. Savannah McCauley (York, PA/West York) cut into the lead at 4-2 when she scored off a Surdy assist at the 62:06 mark, but it was not enough as DeSales held on to the two-goal lead over the final seven minutes of play to seal the win. Alexis Reed (Greenport, NY/Greenport) recorded the loss in net for Wilkes finishing with five saves. Becky Rasmuson notched the win for DeSales making ten stops. DeSales held a 20-15 shot advantage and 10-5 edge in penalty corners in the contest. Wilkes returns home for a matchup with non-conference foe Elmira College Tuesday at 4:00 p.m. at Schmidt Stadium.Print Friendly Version
