NO. 15 MISERICORDIA USES LATE GOAL IN 2-1 WIN OVER WILKES WOMEN'S SOCCER
 
EDWARDSVILLE – Meghan Antrim scored the game-winning goal with just under two minutes left to play to lead visiting No. 15 Misericordia University to a 2-1 victory over Wilkes University Tuesday afternoon at Schmidt Stadium. 
 
With the loss Wilkes falls to 8-8 overall and 1-4 in league matches. Misericordia improves to 13-2 overall and remains unbeaten at 5-0 in conference contests.
 
Misericordia struck early using an Erin McGreal goal off a cross from Devin Simpson to lead 1-0 at the 16:29 mark of the first half.
 
Wilkes responded with heavy pressure in the Misericordia end to start the second half breaking through to tie the game at 1-1 when Kaitlyn Fedor (Yardville, NJ/Steinert) headed home a ball off an initial shot from Kirsten Smith (West Chester, PA/West Chester East) that hit the crossbar at the 59:11 mark.
 
The game went scoreless through the next 29 minutes before Antrim's game-deciding tally put the Cougars ahead at the 88:25 mark. Antrim tapped home a Kylen Smith cross that found its way through to the far right post.
 
Misericordia held a 22-6 shot advantage while garnering seven corner kicks in the contest.
 
Wilkes' Lisa Semetti (Limerick, PA/Spring-Ford) finished with seven saves in net for Wilkes while Maureen Ciccosanti made three stops including a crucial one late off a shot from Shelby Trumbo (Landingville, PA/Schuylkill Haven) from ten feet out with the game tied at 1-1.
 
Wilkes continues Freedom play Saturday hosting Manhattanville College at 1:30 p.m. on Senior Day at Schmidt Stadium.
