WILKES WOMEN'S SOCCER SHUTS DOWN MANHATTANVILLE 2-0
 
EDWARDSVILLE – Wilkes University freshman Micaela Oliverio (Carlisle, PA/Trinity) scored one goal in the first half and assist on another in the second frame to lead the host Lady Colonels to a 2-0 shutout Freedom Conference win over Manhattanville College Saturday afternoon.
 
Wilkes improves to 9-8 overall and 2-4 in Freedom games following the win. Manhattanville falls to 2-12-1 overall and 0-4-1 in league games.
 
Oliverio notched her team-leading seventh goal of the season when she left-footed a shot from top of the 18-yard line to give Wilkes a 1-0 lead at the 20:30 mark of the first half. Taylor Wright (Yardville, NJ/Steinert) added a security goal at the 65:19 mark when she finished a shot near post off a cross from Oliverio.
 
Wilkes dominated play in its offensive end holding an 18-3 shot advantage while garnering five corner kicks and holding the Valiants to none.
 
Lisa Semetti (Limerick, PA/Spring-Ford) recorded the shutout in net for Wilkes finishing with one save. Dolores Diemicke made seven stops for Manhattanville.
 
Wilkes concludes its non-conference slate Tuesday hosting SUNY Cortland at 7:00 p.m. at Schmidt Stadium.
