SKRINAK'S GOAL LIFTS WILKES FIELD HOCKEY OVER KING'S 1-0
 
EDWARDSVILLE – Jenna Skrinak (West Wyoming, PA/Wyoming Area) scored her first goal of the season to lift host Wilkes University to a 1-0 shutout victory over cross-town rival King's College Saturday afternoon at Schmidt Stadium.
 
Wilkes improves to 7-8 overall and 3-2 in Freedom games following the win. King's drops its second straight one-goal decision moving to 8-9 overall and 2-4 in league contests.
 
The teams went scoreless through the first 57 minutes of the game with each having ample scoring opportunities throughout.
 
At the 58:15 mark Skrinak deflected a shot from Aliya Frankel (Ventnor, NJ/Holy Spirit) to record her first score of the year and put the Lady Colonels up 1-0.
 
The Wilkes defense came through in the final minutes of the game and cleared a King's penalty corner with no time left on the clock to preserve the important Freedom victory.
 
Wilkes held a 15-11 shot advantage with each teaming garnering 12 penalty corners each. Alexis Reed (Greenport, NY/Greenport) picked up the shutout win in net making eight saves. Paige Tedik finished with nine stops for King's.
 
Wilkes continues Freedom play Tuesday playing at Misericordia University at 7:00 p.m. in Dallas, Pa.
