LADY COLONELS FIELD HOCKEY CLINCHES FREEDOM CONFERENCE PLAYOFF BERTH WITH 2-0 WIN AT MISERICORDIA

LADY COLONELS FIELD HOCKEY CLINCHES FREEDOM CONFERENCE PLAYOFF BERTH WITH 2-0 WIN AT MISERICORDIA

DALLAS, PA – Two second half goals helped carry the Lady Colonels past Misericordia in a rematch of last year's Freedom Conference Championship game.

With the win the Lady Colonels (8-8, 4-2 Freedom) have clinched a Freedom Conference playoff berth.  No matter what happens in their game Thursday at Delaware Valley the Lady Colonels will be the four seed and travel to #1 seed FDU-Florham on Wednesday November, 5.  Misericordia (11-7, 5-2 Freedom) will be the #2 seed and host # 3 DeSales on the same day.

The first half saw neither team score despite numerous scoring chances for both sides.  The Cougars held a 13-5 advantage in shots while each team took five corners.  Wilkes net minder Alexis Reed (Greenport, NY/Greenport) made nine saves in the half including a great breakaway save on a 2 vs. 0 at 13:45.

Lady Colonels Haley Coleman (Lehighton, PA/Lehighton) gave Wilkes a 1-0 lead in the 41st minute when she ripped a shot from the top of the circle past Misericordia goalie Angela Pasquini.  Ten minutes later Jenna Skrinak (West Wyoming, PA/Wyoming Area) made it 2-0 Lady Colonels when she was able to bury home a Marissa Surdy (Mountaintop, PA/Crestwood) feed inside the left post.

Reed collects her second consecutive shutout in the win and has not allowed a goal in 140 minutes.

Wilkes concludes their regular season Thursday when they travel to Doylestown, Pa. to take on the Delaware Valley College Aggies.  The game is slated to start at 5:00 p.m.
