WILKES VOLLEYBALL SWEEPS MANHATTANVILLE 3-0 EARNING FREEDOM POSTSEASON BID
 
WILKES-BARRE – The Wilkes University volleyball team took all three sets over visiting Manhattanville College claiming a 3-0 sweep in Freedom Conference volleyball action Wednesday night in the Marts Center.
 
With the win Wilkes moves to 12-16 overall and more importantly 3-4 in league play forcing a three-way tie for fourth place with Manhattanville and FDU-Florham who loss to DeSales on the same night. Due to set percentage between tied teams, Wilkes claims the No. 4 seed in next week's Freedom Conference Tournament and will travel to top-seeded Eastern.
 
Wilkes took the match with the Valiants by scores of 25-18, 25-21 and 25-18 not trailing in any of the sets on way to the sweep.
 
Wilkes was led by the strong hitting of Ally Paskas (Rutherford, NJ/Rutherford) and Danica Benson (Allentown, PA/Emmaus) who recorded season-high 15 and 14 kills respectively. Erin Nothstein (Mertztown/Brandywine Heights) led the Wilkes backline with a match-high 29 digs while setter Megan Powers (Pottsville, PA/Pottsville) finished with 39 assists on 39 Wilkes' kills.
 
Wilkes concludes its regular season Saturday traveling to Elizabethtown College to compete in a tri-match with the host Blue Jays and Lycoming College starting at 2:00 p.m.
