Wilkes slips to 0-1 overall following the opening season defeat. Stravinski and Wizar were all but everything offensively for Wilkes throughout as Stravinski finished with a career-high 33 points and nine rebounds including a 7-for-12 performance from beyond the arc, while Wizar added 25 points and six treys. Wilkes held a 34-29 lead at the half thanks to the hot shooting duo and some pressure defense. Wilkes opened an eight-point lead at 66-58 with 8:02 left in the second half when Wizar drilled his fifth three-pointer. Richard Stockton chipped away at the lead before going on a 7-0 run to tie the game at 72 with 2:25 left in the contest.After Stockton took a 78-75 lead on a three-pointer, Stravinski answered with a three of his own to tie the game at 75 with 1:15 on the clock. Following a Stockton turnover, Wizar was long on a three-point attempt and Wilkes fouled on the following possession sending Stockton's Josh Blamon to the line. Blamon hit one of two free throws to break open the tie with :3 left and the hosts held on when Cameron Hinkel (Millerstown, PA/Greenwood) turned the ball over as time expired. Both teams had little trouble filling up the net as Wilkes finished 48.9 percent from the field and Stockton 52.7 percent from the floor. Blamon led Stockton with 25 points and two assists. Wilkes will play Lyndon State Sunday at 2:00 p.m. in the consolation game of the tournament.Print Friendly Version
