Wilkes evens its overall mark at 1-1 following the win while Lyndon State falls to 0-2 on the young season. The win also marked the first for new head coach Izzi Metz as mentor of the Colonels program. Wilkes wasted little time building a lead early using tough defense and efficient offense to open a 21-4 advantage midway through the first half. Back-to-back three-pointers from Collin Farnham (Mechanicsburg, PA/Mechanicsburg) and John Goffredo (Bangor, PA/Pius X) capped the long run to open the contest for Wilkes. Another deep trey from Goffredo and two inside buckets from Brunner put the Colonels ahead 37-16 at the half. Wilkes kept its foot on the gas throughout the second half thanks to scores from Tyler Jackson (Cresskill, NJ/Cresskill) and Brunner as the Colonels led 51-37 with 10:33 left in the game. Jackson added two more scores from the perimeter scoring ten of his 14 points in the second frame for Wilkes. Brunner put the finishing touches on the Colonel win scoring three straight hoops with under four minutes remaining to seal the victory. Brunner was efficient on the offensive end finishing 7-for-12 from the field adding three assists in 33 minutes to record his first collegiate double-double. Jackson followed with 14 points and three helpers while Alec Wizar (Lebanon, PA/Annville Cleona) chipped in 10 points going a perfect 8-for-8 from the free throw line. David Johnson led Lyndon State with a game-high 20 points on 5-for-22 shooting going 9-for-12 from the stripe. Wilkes held a commanding lead on the glass outrebounding Lyndon State 50-30 including 13 offensive rebounds.
