CLARKS SUMMIT, PA – Six Colonels reached double figures as visiting Wilkes University held onto a 100-89 overtime victory at Baptist Bible College Wednesday night.

Wilkes improves to 2-1 overall after the win while BBC remains winless at 0-3 following the non-conference defeat.

In a game where offense was at the forefront, Wilkes opened up a 53-42 lead at the break thanks to the play of Mason Gross (Hughestown, PA/Pittston) and Steve Stravinski (Pittston, PA/Pittston). The Pittston dup combined for 29 of the Colonels 53 first half points as Wilkes shot a blistering 47.5 percent (19-40) from the field including canning six three-pointers in the opening frame.

Baptist Bible answered in the second half cutting the Wilkes lead to four early in the half before tying the game at 62 with 12:06 on the clock. The teams traded buckets over the next eight minutes before two Alec Wizar (Lebanon, PA/Annville Cleona) free throws put the Colonels up six 81-75 with 2:06 left in regulation. Baptist Bible scored the game's next three points before the Defender's Abe Valentine hit a clutch trey with five seconds remaining to force the game into overtime tied at 83.

From there Wilkes outscored the hosts 17-6 over the five minute extra stanza to seal the non-league road victory.

Wizar and Collin Farnham (Mechanicsburg, PA/Mechanicsburg) led Wilkes scoring 20 points each including four three-pointers from Farnham. Gross and Stravinski followed with 16 points apiece while Cameron Hinkel (Millerstown, PA/Greenwood) added 12 points and Zachary Brunner (Mechanicsburg, PA/Mechanicsburg) ten tallies and nine boards.

Valentine led Baptist Bible with a game-high 30 points on 10-for-18 shooting and two treys.

Wilkes makes its 2014-15 homes debut Saturday hosting Rosemont College at 3:00 p.m. at the Marts Center.
