Marywood tied the score at 21-21 with 7:54 to play before Wilkes went on a quick 5-0 run to put them back up 26-21. The Pacers battled back with five straight of their own to knot the score at 26-26 with 5:07 left and took a three point lead 29-26 after Ashley Murray nailed a three pointer. Elena Stambone (Jessup, PA/Valley View) quickly tied it up with a three of her own for Wilkes who closed the final 4:15 on an 8-4 run to lead at the break 37-33.The Lady Colonels were well balanced on the scoring sheet as 10 different players scored. Stambone led the way with eight while Chelsea Smelas (Jim Thorpe, PA/Jim Thorpe) chipped in with six. Nora Joyca led the Pacers with nine points in the half.Wilkes started the second half on a quick 10-0 run to put them up 14 with 15:51 remaining in the game. Marywood responded with a 6-0 run of their own to trim the lead back to eight with 13:58 left in the game. A big and-one off of a layup by Emelie Meinhart (Bowmanstown, PA/Palmerton) helped spark a 12-5 run for the Lady Colonels that put them up 59-44 with 9:32 left on the clock. The Pacers were unable to get closer than 12 points the remainder of the game as Wilkes pulled away late by forcing turnovers and making foul shots.The Pacers shot 32.3% (21-for-65) from the floor and 16.7% (4-for-24) from deep while the Lady Colonels shot 47.8% (32-for-67) from two-point range and 37.5% (3-for-8) from long distance. Wilkes made 11-out-of 14 foul shots at a clip of 78.6%, a big improvement from their first game.Stambone led Wilkes with 16 points; Chelsea Brown (Garnet Valley, PA/Garnet Valley) added 10 points and five boards with Smelas adding eight points and seven boards. Wilkes defensively forced 28 turnovers scoring 26 points off of the Pacers turnovers. Wilkes returns to action on Friday when they travel to Muhlenberg College for the Scotty Wood Tournament.
