WILKES MEN'S AND WOMEN'S TENNIS FALL AT NYU

BRONX, N.Y. – The Wilkes University men's and women's tennis teams dropped decisions at New York University in non-conference action Sunday afternoon. The Wilkes men fell 7-2 against the No. 25 ranked Violets while the Wilkes women suffered an 8-1 defeat.

With the loss the Wilkes men's sees its undefeated mark end at 13-1. The Lady Colonels drop to 13-2 on the year following the loss.

The Colonels jumped out to a 2-1 lead after doubles as Jacob and Dominic Parfianowicz (Elmira, NY/Elmira Free Academy) posted an 8-2 win at No. 1 pairs. Alex Makos (Mansfield, PA/Mansfield) and Steven Wilson (Bronx, NY/JFK) added Wilkes' second win with a 9-8 (5-0) decision at No. 2 doubles.

NYU then swept all six singles flights to record the non-conference victory and hand the Colonels their first loss of the season.

The Wilkes women posted one win in doubles play as Kendra Croker (Old Forge, PA/Scranton Prep) and Taylor Hoffmann (Huntingdon Valley, PA/Lower Moreland) teamed at No. 2 to win 8-3. NYU posted wins in the other two doubles matches and all six singles flights to seal the win.

The Wilkes men's squad hosts Moravian College at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday while the Lady Colonels welcome cross-town rival King's College on Wednesday in Freedom action at 3:30 p.m.
