SNYDER AND MCANENA'S BRACE LEAD COLONELS PAST BAPTIST BIBLE

EDWARDSVILLE, PA – Freshman Adam Snyder (Levittown, PA/Holy Ghost Prep) scored his first two collegiate goals six minutes into the game as the Colonels built a 3-0 halftime lead against the Defenders of Baptist Bible College.  The Colonels added two more tallies in the second half as they went on to win 5-0, their first shutout of the season.

The Colonels improve to 2-4 on the season while the Defenders fall to 0-5.

Snyder put the Colonels on the board just :24 seconds into the game when he shot the ball towards the far post that beat the keeper and found the back of the net.  Eric McAnena (Horsham, PA/Abington) got his first of the game two minutes later when he flicked a ball over the keepers head into an empty net off a great feed from Ryan Joyce (Warminster, PA/Archbishop Wood).  In the 7th minute Snyder scored his second when he corralled a loose ball and slotted it into the net to put Wilkes up 3-0.  For the half Wilkes outshot Baptist Bible 14-2 and held a 4-1 advantage in corners.  The Defenders goalkeeper Dillon Bowman made some great saves that prevented the Colonels from doing further damage.  Bowman made five saves in the period while Patrick Loube (Boyertown, PA/Boyertown) made one save for Wilkes.

McAnena scored his second of the game in the 69th minute when he beat the Defenders back line and shot low to the far post.  Twenty minutes later Matt Lindo (Hazlet, NJ/Raritan) laced a shot into the upper corner to put the Colonels up 5-0.  Wilkes had several good scoring chances, including hitting a crossbar off a corner and Bowman continued to dazzle with a few impressive saves.  Bowman made four saves, nine for the match as the Colonels outshot the Defenders 29-9 and out cornered them 7-2.  Kyle Romm (Hampstead, MD/North Carroll) made two saves for Wilkes in the second half as the team picked up their first shutout of the season.

Wilkes returns to action Saturday when they travel to Swarthmore for a 7:00 p.m. non-conference matchup.
