SURDY'S GOAL LIFTS WILKES FIELD HOCKEY OVER ALBRIGHT 1-0

EDWARDSVILLE – Marissa Surdy (Mountaintop, PA/Crestwood) scored the lone goal in the contest to lift host Wilkes University to a 1-0 victory over Albright College Tuesday night at Schmidt Stadium.

With the win Wilkes improves to 2-5 overall, snapping a five-game losing skid. Albright remains winless standing 0-8 after the defeat.

Surdy gave Wilkes the only tally it would need early when her reverse chip found the back upper part of the net just :47 into the contest.

Lauren Burrows (Lehighton, PA/Lehighton) finished with one save to preserve the shutout for Wilkes in net.

Wilkes returns to Freedom play Saturday when the Lady Colonels travel to Purchase, N.Y. to face Manhattanville College at 1:00 p.m.
